Patron Saint of Amsterdam
The Basilica of Saint Nicholas is located across from Amsterdam Central Station, next to the city's canals. With its twin towers and dome, the church's altar and nave are covered with carvings and religious icons, and it was elevated to a minor basilica in 2012.
The Basilica of Saint Nicholas is located opposite Amsterdam Central Station and is built next to the city’s canals. The church is a fusion of many architectural styles and blends in with the neighboring street houses. The Basilica of Saint Nicholas has Twin Towers with a Huge Dome, and visitors who have just stepped out of the station are usually attracted by its magnificent appearance and massive size.
The Basilica of Saint Nicholas, or Basiliek van de Heilige Nicolaas, is dedicated to St. Nicholas, the Patron Saint of Amsterdam. A statue of St. Nicholas is prominently placed on the front facade of the church.

The Basilica of Saint Nicholas was built in the 19th century and is not only superbly decorated with Religious Frescoes and Carvings in the nave and main altar, but also in Chapels of the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph, which have floral windows, mosaic tiles and religious figures everywhere. In 2012 the church was recognized by the Holy See and elevated to a minor basilica.
