Beurs Van Berlage

Representative of Modern Dutch Architecture

The Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam is located a short distance from Dam Square. This building, with a red brick facade, was built in 1903 that represents 20th century Amsterdam School Architecture. This former commodity exchange market building is currently used for various exhibitions, events, and concerts.

Just 200 meters from Dam Square, the Beurs van Berlage, with its red brick facade, was built in 1903 and is an example of the 20th century Amsterdam School Architecture.

From its construction until the end of the last century, it served as the office of Stock Exchange in Amsterdam. A Statue of a Charging Bull, identical to the one near the New York Stock Exchange, can be seen in the square in front of the Beurs van Berlage, by the same creator.

The Beurs van Berlage was the first stock exchange in the world, founded by the Dutch East India Company in 1602.

The Beurs van Berlage is now mainly used for conferences, exhibitions, events, and concerts. While enjoying coffee and good food, visitors can enter the observation deck at the top of the Clock Tower during opening hours and look out over the Dam Square and the streets of the Old Town of Amsterdam.
