Jiaxing

Jiaxing is located at the junction of Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, where the Majiabang culture emerged thousands of years ago. The 1st National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1921 was held on a boat at South Lake in Jiaxing, marking the beginning of the CPC.

Jiaxing South Lake

Jiaxing South Lake covers an area of more than 600 acres, with wide-open water and vast waves of smoke. There are many attractions along the lake, Haogu Pagoda, Lanxiu Garden, Heroes Garden, Huijing Garden. The Mist and Rain Tower (烟雨楼) on the central island is the best place to enjoy the scenery of the lake, which was loved by Emperor Qianlong.

The Starting Point of the Red Revolution

In July 1921, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held in Shanghai was interrupted by French Concession patrols. On August 2, 1921, the First National Congress of the CPC was successfully held on a small boat at South Lake in Jiaxing, a meeting of great historical significance that announced the birth of the CPC. The South Lake Revolutionary Memorial Hall by the water has a collection of more than 10,000 precious exhibits, showing audiences the glorious journey of the Chinese Communist Party in leading the people to victory.
