Qufu is located south of Mount Tai, it was the capital of the state of Lu during the Spring and Autumn Period. Qufu is the birthplace of Confucius, one of China’s most important philosophers, who founded Confucianism and had a profound impact on future generations.

Confucius was born in Qufu, and his philosophy is known as Confucianism, which is based on the principles of benevolence and ritual, advocating loyalty and filial piety, as well as the cultivation of virtue and morality. Confucianism has had an indelible influence on the development of Chinese traditional culture and is still highly regarded by many people today.

In Qufu, Confucius is everywhere. From the huge statue in front of the station to the buildings, schools and streets named after him, and even the Ancient Qufu City of the Ming Dynasty was built specifically for him.

The Three Kongs in Qufu

“The Three Kongs” is short for the Temple of Confucius, the Kong Family Mansion and the Cemetery of Confucius. In 1994, they were selected as a World Heritage Site, raising Confucius’ global influence to a new level.
