Yongding is located in the southern part of Longyan City, Fujian Province, close to Nanjing County, where the Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster is located. Yongding has the densest distribution of Tulous in Fujian Province. Besides world-famous Chengqi Lou and Zhencheng Lou, there are also famous Tulou villages such as Gaobei Tulou Cluster, Hukeng Tulou Cluster, Nanxi Tulou Cluster and Chuxi Tulou Cluster.

Gaobei Tulou Cluster

The Gaobei Tulou Cluster is the most typical of Fujian Tulous, and the Chengqi Lou located here is known as the “Tulou King”. The Gaobei Tulou Cluster consists of several Tulous such as Chengqi Lou, Shize Lou, Wuyun Lou, and Qiaofu Lou. The huge Chengqi Lou has a history of more than three hundred years, with a structure of four concentric rings, and a total of 400 rooms, making it the King of Tulou.

Hongkeng Tulou Cluster

Hongkeng Tulou Cluster is located on both sides of Hongchuan River, also known as Fujian Tulou Hakka Folk Culture Village. There are dozens of Tulous in different shapes and sizes, such as the “Tulou Prince” Zhencheng Lou, the “Five Phoenix Tulou” Fuyu Lou, the square “Palace Tulou” Kuiju Lou and the “Tiny” Rusheng Lou.

World Heritage – Fujian Tulou

Tulou is a special type of architecture designed by the Hakka people in Fujian province to defend themselves against foreign invasion, existing only in the Fujian province of China. Due to its long history, unique appearance, large scale and number, the Tulou was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2008. Hakka Tulous are mainly located in the southwestern part of Fujian Province, mainly in Yongding, Nanjing and Hua’an Counties.
