World of Umegae Mochi Cakes
The Dazaifu Tenmangu Omotesando Shopping Street is about 200 meters long, with stores lining both sides of the road and three stone toriis erected along the way. Because the god of academics, Sugawara no Michizane, was fond of plum blossoms, so the street is filled with stores selling plum blossom prints and specialty products.
When you walk out of Dazaifu Station, a straight path leads directly to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. The path is about 200 meters long, and along the way, Three Stone Toriis are erected.
The stores are lined up on both sides of the Omotesando Shopping Street 太宰府天満宮表参道商店街, so the density of visitors in the shopping street is always higher than that of Tenmangu Shrine in Dazaifu. The god of learning, Sugawara no Michizane 菅原 道真, loves plum blossoms, so not only are there 6,000 plum trees planted in the shrine, but there are also plum blossom prints and Plum Cake Shops everywhere in the shopping street. These glutinous rice and bean cakes are sweet but not greasy, and are a specialty of Dazaifu.
