The Largest of the Five Lakes

Lake Yamanakako in the northeastern part of Mount Fuji is the largest of the Fuji Five Lakes, and you can enjoy a view of Mount Fuji from anywhere by the lake. The shore of Lake Yamanakako has a cycling lane, as well as scenic spots such as Nagaike Waterfront Park and Asahigaoka Lakeside Greenspace Park.

Lake Yamanakako 山中湖 is the Largest of the Fuji Five Lakes, with a surface area of 6.78 square kilometers and a shape resembling a whale. Lake Yamanakako is located in the northeastern part of Mount Fuji and is far away from the other four lakes, such as Lake Kawaguchiko. You can enjoy Majestic Mount Fuji from any position by the lake. When the sun sets over the top of Mount Fuji at dusk, the light dazzles like a diamond, which is a stunning view called Diamond Fuji.

The famous Fuji Rock Festival is not actually held at the foot of Mount Fuji, but the far away Niigata Prefecture.

Lake Yamanakako was highly developed and is second only to The Most Accessible Lake Kawaguchiko. There are Lake Tour Ships, hot spring hotels and other services along the lakeshore, Bicycle Lanes and several hiking trails nearby for cyclists and hikers.

Swans on the Lake

The Nagaike Waterfront Park on the north shore of Lake Yamanakako, the Asahigaoka Lakeside Greenspace Park on the south shore, Hirano no Hama Beach on the east shore are all sightseeing spots for lakeside excursions. And the Yamanakako Communication Plaza KIRARA also has an open-air stage and various sports fields for visitors to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing time in the company of Mount Fuji.
