The Last Years of Gaudi
The Gaudi House Museum is a red house in Barcelona's Park Güell that was built as a model home for the residential project where Gaudi spent the last 20 years of his life. The museum showcases Gaudi's simple bedroom, as well as numerous pieces of furniture and objects designed by him.
Located in the famous Park Güell in the north of the city, the Gaudi House Museum (Casa Museu Gaudí) is a Red-Facade House that was originally built as a model home for the Park Güell residential project, where he spent the last 20 years of his life here.
Manywhere Trivia:
The Gaudi House Museum is owned by the Sagrada Familia Foundation, so all proceeds from admission to the museum become part of the fund to build the Sagrada Familia.
The Gaudi House Museum remains as much as possible as it was when Gaudi and his father lived here, with an Austere Bedroom in stark contrast to his prestige as an architect, a well-preserved Small Prayer Room, and the rooftop balcony and garden where Gaudí used to conceive his design ideas.
Several rooms in the museum are dedicated to Original Furniture Designed by Gaudi Himself, such as the dining room chairs from the Casa Batlló and the door handles from the Casa Mila.
The Park Güell, where the Gaudi House Museum is located, was also designed and built by Gaudi, and although the park was a failed residential project, it has become a representative example of Gaudi’s public architectural work and was selected as a World Heritage Site, along with Sagrada Familia, Casa Milà, Palau Güell, etc.
City Park of Catalan Modernism
Located in the northern part of Barcelona, Park Güell offers a high view of the Mediterranean Sea and the city. Once part of a commercial and residential project, it features the Gaudi-designed colored mosaic Dragon Stairway and the Hypostyle Room, as well as the Gaudi House Museum.
