Locks of Love and Good Times
The Hohenzollern Bridge spans both sides of the Rhine in Cologne. The bridge is 409 meters long, laid with six tracks and a pedestrian walkway, and is covered with colorful lover's locks. The Cologne Cathedral and the Cologne train terminal are located not far from the bridge on the west side of the Hohenzollern Bridge.
The Hohenzollern Bridge is located on the axis extension of the Cologne Cathedral and spans both banks of the Rhine. For some reason, more and more people have been hanging Locks Symbolizing Love on the iron bars of the bridge since 2008, making Hohenzollern Bridge a popular attraction in Cologne.
The Hohenzollern Bridge was built in 1907 and takes its name from the German Hohenzollern family. Four Statues of Hohenzollern Family Members are placed at the four corners of the bridge, either as kings of Prussia or German emperors, highlighting the family’s honor.
The bridge is 409 meters long and is paved with six railroad tracks and a pedestrian walk. Not far to the west of the bridge is the Cologne Cathedral and the Köln Hbf, the Cologne train terminal, where more than one thousand Trains In and Out of Cologne cross the Hohenzollern Bridge every day.
On the eastern bank of the Hohenzollern Bridge, there is a waterfront walkway where you can see Bridge and Cologne Cathedral in the Same Frame, a scene that is always prominently featured in tourist brochures in Cologne.
