The Little India area is the largest Indian community in Singapore, where you can eat authentic Indian food and find traditional Indian clothing, spices, jewelry. The Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, built in 1881, is representative of the many Hindu temples in the area.

The colorful temples and stores, the flowers and ornaments hanging in front of the merchants, the smell of food in the air and the smiling faces on the streets… Little India’s residents were born and raised in such an environment, following in the footsteps of their predecessors and continuing to live in this unique Indian Ethnic District in Singapore.

The Little India Arcade and Tekka Centre are the two distinct commercial areas in Little India where you can eat authentic Indian delicacies and find traditional Indian clothing, spices, and jewelry.

A Large part of the souvenirs sold in Little India are manufactured in Yiwu, China.

Of course, the Indian ethnic community never lacks Hindu temples, such as the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple and the Sri Vadapathira Kaliamman Temple. The most popular one is the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali, which was built by Indian laborers in Singapore in 1881.

The Street Murals

Walking through the streets of Little India, you can’t miss the Beautiful Murals and the colorful shophouses, House of Tan Teng Niah is one of the most representative architectural symbols of Little India.

Every year during the festival of Deepavali, people are immersed in an atmosphere of colored lights and festivities to celebrate this annual grand festival.
