Mount Hakodate

One of World's Greatest Night Scenes

Mount Hakodate, located in the western part of Hakodate City, is 334 meters above sea level, and from the observation deck at the top of the mountain, you can see both the city and bay of Hakodate. Being one of the World's Top Three Night Scenes, along with Naples and Hong Kong, Mount Hakodate has also been rated as a three-star attraction by Michelin Green Guide Japan.

Mount Hakodate 函館山 is located in the western part of Hakodate City, 334m above Sea Level. Japan once established a military exclusion zone on Mt. Hakodate, and it was not reopened to the public until after World War II.

There are many ways to climb Mt. Hakodate. Hiking up the mountain enables you to enjoy the scenery along the way, but requires a lot of physical strength and endurance. The bus is a good choice, but the quickest and most convenient way is to take the Cable Car. It takes only three minutes to reach the Mountain Top Observation Deck in a huge cable car with a capacity of 125 people.
