The Prague Old Town Hall in the southwest corner of the Old Town Square was built in 1338. The 70-meter-tall tower is topped by a viewing gallery that looks out across the river to Prague Castle. The Old Town Hall has the Prague Orloj, a 15th-century astronomical clock on its facade, and a puppet show at every hour attracts crowds of visitors.

Prague's Old Town Hall is located southwest of the Old Town Square and consists of several adjacent buildings. The astronomical clock on the southern facade of the Old Town Hall dates from the 15th century and features an extremely beautiful clock face with mechanical dolls performing at every hour. The 70-meter-tall tower is topped by an observation deck.
The Statue of Jan Hus in the center of the square was erected in 1915 on the 500th anniversary of the martyrdom of Jan Hus, a religious reformer who was branded as a heretic and executed by fire in 1415.

The richness of color is a feature of the architecture of the Old Town squares, and their architectural style has changed with the times, as if they were a vibrant architectural encyclopedia. The Church of Our Lady before Týn, which appeared in the 14th century, is located on the east side of the square, and its Gothic spire is often described as The Flame. The St. Nicholas Church on the other side is 300 years later, with its Baroque facade and twin towers; the Kinský Palace is a focal point of attention with the Rococo style decoration and is home to the National Gallery of Prague.
