Tombs of Shaolin Masters
Pagoda Forest at Shaolin Temple is located on the west side of the Main Court of Shaolin Temple in Mount Songshan. The Pagoda Forest has more than two hundred Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and contemporary pagodas built with bricks or stones. These pagodas are the tombs of Shaolin senior monks in the past generations.

The Pagoda Forest has more than two hundred Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and contemporary pagodas built with bricks or stones. These pagodas are the tombs of Shaolin senior monks in the past generations, and the sum of the stories is generally an odd number and differs according to the monk’s virtue and merit, the highest of which is seven.

There are Two Tang Dynasty Pagodas in the Pagoda Forest, which are the pagoda of Zen Master Fawan and a seven-story multi-eaved nameless relic pagoda. There are also Pagoda of Zen Master Haigong from the Jin Dynasty, Pagoda of Monk Fuyu from the Yuan Dynasty, Pagoda of monk Xiaoshan from the Ming Dynasty, the contemporary built Pagoda of Zen Master Xingzheng 行正, the popular Pagoda of Zen Master Suxi 素喜 and other well-known pagodas.
