The Pisa Cathedral was built in 1064 and is the earliest building in the Square of Miracles (Piazza dei Miracoli) complex, which also includes the Leaning Tower of Pisa, The Pisa Baptistery of St. John and Pisa Monumental Cemetery.

The Cathedral of Pisa is the mother church of the Catholic diocese of Pisa, built on a stone terrace, its White Marble Facade is in harmony with the nearby Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Baptistery. The upper part of the Main Facade of the Cathedral has a four-tiered loggia with continuous arch structure, while the lower part has bronze doors with elaborate relief carvings depicting the life of Jesus.

Manywhere Tips:
The Leaning Tower of Pisa was originally a bell tower (campanile) attached to the Pisa Cathedral. It became much more famous than the cathedral simply because of its poor construction.

The 16th-century Pisa Cathedral suffered a fire that destroyed almost all of its furnishings. The Gilded Coffered Ceiling was reconstructed after the disaster. The Octagonal Stone Pulpit and the Mosaic in the Apse are among the few original objects that have survived to the present day. They were created at the beginning of the 14th century and are more than seven hundred years old.

The church also houses the Tomb Altar of Saint Rainier, patron saint of Pisa, and the tomb of the Holy Roman Emperor Henry VII.
