The Prague Castle area is home to St. Vitus Cathedral, Basilica of St. George, the Old Royal Palace, the Golden Lane, and the hilltop observation deck near the castle, which offers a panoramic view of the city.

Prague Castle sits on top of a hill on the west bank of the Vltava River, overlooking the romantic city of Prague. Covering an area of about 70,000 square meters, Prague Castle is one of the largest castle complexes in the world and is over a thousand years old. The Prague Castle, listed as a World Heritage Site, is the center of both power and religion of Czech.

To get to Prague Castle on foot, you’ll need to Climb Hundreds of Stairs, with small shops along the way as places to take a rest. At the top of the hill, the magnificent castle complex awaits you, you can also enjoy A Panoramic View of Prague City from the observation deck.

Prague Castle has three entrances, the main one is located in the crowded Castle Square on the West Side of the Castle, which is called Giants’ Gate with two Titans standing above it. The guards of honor in full regalia inside it are among the main attractions of the castle. The Changing of the Guard, which takes place every day on time, is the most popular and eagerly awaited event here.

Entering the castle area, different styles of the palace offer a glimpse of the architecture that has changed over the centuries. The castle has several courtyards, the most extensive one is the Third Courtyard in the Center of the Castle, which houses the 14th-century St. Vitus Cathedral and the 12th-century Old Royal Palace.

St. Vitus Cathedral (Katedrála svatého Víta) is the center of faith in Czech, famous for its Gothic architecture and stained-glass windows, its collection of national treasures, and the burial place of several Czech monarchs.

The history of St. Vitus Cathedral dates back to the 10th century and the Gothic church building was built in 1344. It is now part of the Prague Castle complex. St. Vitus Cathedral is the center of faith in Czech and houses a large collection of relics and artifacts, with several monarchs buried here.

The Old Royal Palace (Starý královský palác), was once an imperial palace with a 60-meter-long Vladislav Hall (Vladislavský sál), which was used as a meeting and banquet hall.

Today many of the rooms and monuments of the Prague Castle complex have been converted into exhibition spaces, such as St. George's Basilica (Bazilika svatého Jiří), the Castle Gallery, and the Castle Stories exhibition. To the northeast of the castle is a narrow street called Golden Lane (Zlatá ulička), which used to be populated by castle artisans and guards (including the writer Kafka), but is now a well-known commercial and exhibition area.
