Shanghai Museum is located on the south side of the People's Square, the museum has more than ten galleries as Ancient Chinese Bronze, Sculpture, Ceramics, Paintings, and Calligraphy, etc., with rare Chinese treasures such as Western Zhou Da Ke Ding Tripod, porcelains from Five Song Dynasty Kilns, Wang Xianzhi's Duck Head Pill Post, etc.

On the south side of Shanghai People's Square, there is a peculiar building with a round top and a square bottom, which is the Shanghai Museum, one of China’s first world-class modern museums.

The Shanghai Museum was founded in 1952, and the new building in People’s Square was completed and opened in 1996, this design of Round Sky and Square Earth is based on the bronze tripod from the Shang and Zhou dynasties. The museum has five floors above ground and two floors below, with a total of 11 permanent exhibitions: Gallery of Ancient Chinese Bronze, Gallery of Ancient Chinese Sculpture, Gallery of Ancient Chinese Ceramics, Gallery of Ancient Chinese Jades, Chinese Calligraphy and Gallery of Ancient Chinese Paintings. The museum also introduces creative special exhibitions and temporary exhibitions from time to time.
