Magnificent Sculptures and Murals
St. Peter's Church in Vienna dates from the 4th century and the present Baroque church was completed in 1733. With its green dome and twin towers, the interior of St. Peter's Church is rich in ornate sculptures and decorations, and the oval dome features a large ceiling fresco of the Coronation of Our Lady.
St. Peter’s Church (Peterskirche) in Vienna is located close to Vienna’s famous business district Graben Shopping Street. The church dates from the 4th century and is said to be the oldest church in Vienna.
The construction of the Baroque style St. Peter’s Church began in 1701 and was completed in 1733. A Oval Green Dome covers almost half of the roof space between the twin towers on the front of the church.
The interior of St. Peter’s Church has Numerous Magnificent Sculptures, such as the saints in chapel niches, the angels in and around the pulpit, and the gilded martyrdom of St. John of Nepomuk. The church has many religious paintings, the Ceiling Fresco Coronation of Our Lady on the inside of the dome was painted by the Austrian painter Rottmayr in 1713.
The organ on the second floor of the church is also in Baroque style and its elegance is second to none in Austria. The church hosts concerts from time to time, with renowned artists performing in the hall for guests.
