Tokugawa Ieyasu was the first Shogun of the Edo Shogunate and the daimyo of the Warring States period in Japan. He was the de facto head of Japan from 1598 to 1616 and created the Shogunate system.The Edo Shogunate, which he established, ruled Japan for 264 years, known as the Edo Period.
