Baseball Field and Japanese Garden
Yokohama Park, completed in 1876, is the second oldest park in Yokohama and features a fountain and Japanese garden with over 100,000 tulips. Yokohama Stadium in the park is the home of the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, a two-time baseball champion team.
In 1876, a green park was established in Yokohama City to improve the living environment of the foreign residents in Yokohama, and since the park was open to both foreigners and Japanese, it was named Higa Park 彼我公園 (Park of Both Parties), which is today’s Yokohama Park 横浜公園.
Yokohama Park is the second oldest park in Yokohama, except for Yamate Park. There are fountains, statues, and a children’s playground, with more than 100,000 tulips blooming every spring, making it a popular place for visitors. There is also a Delicate Japanese garden in Yokohama Park, where the stone lanterns in the pond are modeled after the Yukimi lanterns in the Portland Japanese Garden in the United States, conveying a prayer for friendship and peace.
